In companies, the decisions that have to do with the allocation of resources and financial investments are based on rational thoughts, but there are different factors that impact decision-making and, in turn, distort what appears to be a rational decision. The use of formulas would seem to give a mathematical rationality to financial decisions, as opposed to emotional, intuitive and automatic decisions. We enter reliable data, quantitative data that we decide consciously and give a rational order to our decision. «All deliberate action is rational» (Ludwig von Mises). But is it enough that it is deliberate for it to be objective, free from any emotional or subjective bias? Are the decisions we make in the company really rational? There are different factors that intervene in managerial decisions, such as: emotions, biases, linear thinking and mental models, among others, which impact all decisions, including rational and financial ones.
